Elbow

In 10 Man Modified, the elbow must be locked on release. In other words the Upper and lower arm must be in a straight line as shown below.

In 9 Man or “sling shot” the elbow is allowed to be cocked as shown below. This allows one to undercut the ball and use the wrist to snap off a variety of pitches. It also allows you to roll the wrist and forearm over, thus releasing the ball  is a modified sidearm motion giving you much more speed and movement. All Windmillers are proficient at this movement which is undetectable with the naked eye.
